Rent to visiting researchers and scholars

Reach a focused, trustworthy audience of guest researchers, fellows, and scholars arriving near DC-area research campuses.

Welcome — with a few ground rules

Homeowners, individual owners, and property managers are welcome to list rooms, apartments, and houses for the research community. An individual offering a place they own or live in is treated as a community member — eligible low-risk posts from a verified account can go live automatically. Property managers, realtors, apartment complexes, and rental businesses are reviewed by an admin before they go public.

Review policy
If you’re a property manager, realtor, apartment complex, or rental business, your listing is accepted and held for review — a moderator checks it for safety and Fair Housing before it goes live. Individuals offering their own place can usually publish eligible low-risk posts automatically; some housing offers may still be reviewed for safety.

Fair Housing compliance is required

Housing listings may not discriminate based on protected characteristics. Do not include language that expresses a preference, limitation, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, or other protected categories under applicable law. GuestResearcher.com may reject or remove listings for discriminatory or unsafe content.

What works well here

  • Flexible terms — many visitors need 3–12 month stays.
  • Furnished or partly furnished units near a Metro stop or research campus.
  • Clear, honest photos and an in-person or video tour option.
  • Reasonable documentation for renters without U.S. credit history.

How to list

Sign in, choose Housing, and select “I am an individual offering a place I own or live in” or, for a rental business, “I am a property manager, realtor, apartment complex, or rental business.” Add details and photos, acknowledge the Fair Housing notice, and submit.
