How it works

How posting works

A quick walkthrough of posting a listing and what happens after you submit.

1

Choose a listing type

Housing, a marketplace item, or a community event.

2

Tell us what the post is

We ask whether you're a community member sharing a personal listing, or a landlord/business. This sets whether it's free or moderated/paid.

3

Add details and photos

Title, description, hub/area, price, and up to 8 photos.

4

Acknowledge safety notices

Fair Housing for housing, prohibited-items for the marketplace, and an unofficial-event notice for events.

5

Preview and submit

See exactly how your listing will look, then submit.

6

Publish or review

Verified community members' low-risk personal listings publish immediately. Housing offers, commercial, and unverified posts go to admin review first.

Free for verified community members

Community posting for researchers, fellows, students, and government/academic community members. Verified community members may publish eligible low-risk posts faster; commercial, spammy, or high-risk posts may be limited or reviewed, and some posts are reviewed before appearing publicly.

Verified researchers, fellows, students, and government/academic community members may publish eligible low-risk personal posts faster. Landlords and businesses are welcome but their posts are reviewed before appearing publicly.

Moderation keeps it trusted

Housing and commercial listings, and posts from unverified accounts, are reviewed by an admin before they go public. Every listing can be reported, and contact details stay private by default. See how moderation works, our trust & safety guide, and how to write a good listing.
