Getting around

The local bus networks matter more than the Metro map suggests — Alexandria's DASH and Arlington's ART have different fare policies, and Metroway bus rapid transit runs the Crystal City–Potomac Yard axis. VRE serves Alexandria on a weekday commuter schedule and Alexandria Union Station is an Amtrak stop. It is also a serious cycling corridor: the Potomac Yard Trail connects north toward Four Mile Run and onward to the Mount Vernon Trail. Reaching a Maryland campus from here is the hard case — expect transfers or the Beltway.
