Getting around
- Shady Grove is the northern end of Metro's Red Line and the interchange everything here funnels through. The routes you can rely on without institutional paperwork are Montgomery County Ride On buses — USG publishes routes 43, 66 and 67, and NCI publishes 43, 56, 66 and 74. The shuttles are a different matter: NCI's Metro Shuttle and its NCI Express to the NIH main campus require an NIH badge or a sponsor-issued shuttle pass, so an unhosted visitor should not plan an address around them. USG also lists Ride On extRa Pink and Lime lines to Shady Grove and out to Germantown and Gaithersburg — county services rather than campus shuttles, and peak-hours only. From Frederick County, USG publishes MARC Brunswick to Rockville and a Ride On connection.
