Arriving researchers are always looking for furniture, so a good moving-sale listing sells fast. Here's how to write one.
Photograph well
- Shoot in good light from a few angles, including any wear.
- One clear hero photo per item; a group shot for a whole-room bundle.
Price and bundle
- Price used items to move, not for top dollar — your goal is an empty apartment.
- Offer a "starter set" bundle (bed + desk + chair) for incoming researchers.
- Post the date you must be out; urgency helps.
Write a listing buyers trust
- Honest condition and rough dimensions so buyers know it'll fit and travel.
- Approximate pickup area only — agree the exact spot privately after a match.
- No phone/email in the text; contact stays private.
Hand off safely
- Meet during the day with a housemate around, or in a building lobby.
- Keep payment traceable; walk away from overpayment "refund" tricks.
- Nothing prohibited or unsafe — see the prohibited-listings policy.
Post your items, then share the moving-sale checklist and the safe-selling guide with a housemate who's also leaving.
